High Strength Steel Wire for Bridge Cables – Premium Hot-Dip Galvanized & Epoxy-Coated Steel Wire

High-Durability Steel Wire with 1670-1960MPa Tensile Strength – Ideal for Suspension Bridge Main Cables & Stay Cables

Product Introduction

High-strength steel wires must meet the core requirements of bridges for long-term load-bearing, fatigue resistance, and corrosion resistance, with their characteristics concentrated in the following aspects:

1. Excellent Mechanical Properties: The tensile strength reaches over 1600MPa, far exceeding that of ordinary steel bars, which can reduce the self-weight of cables and optimize the cross-section. The elastic modulus is about 200-210GPa, resulting in small deformation under force, ensuring stability under dynamic loads. It also has certain plasticity and toughness to avoid brittle fracture.

2. Strong Fatigue Resistance: Stress concentration is reduced through process optimization, enabling it to withstand millions of cycles of loads. Surface treatments (such as galvanizing) reduce the impact of stress corrosion, meeting the design life requirement of ≥50 years.

3. High Durability and Corrosion Resistance: Hot-dip galvanizing forms a protective layer of ≥85μm, resisting corrosion through sacrificial anodes. Some grades contain alloying elements, forming a self-healing oxide layer. Combined with epoxy coating, PE sheathing, grease filling, etc., to isolate corrosive media.

4. Precise Dimension and Shape Control: Diameter deviation ≤ ±0.06mm to ensure uniform force bearing. Good straightness and winding property ensure no excessive stress during stranding, guaranteeing cable consistency.

Production Standards

High-strength Steel Wire Production Standards:

• GB/T 17101 – 2019: Hot-galvanized or Zinc-aluminum Alloy Steel Wires for Bridge Cables

• GB/T 25835 – 2010: Epoxy-coated Steel Wires for Cables

Application

High strength steel wire for bridge cables is specifically designed for critical cable-supported bridge applications. Typical applications include:

Suspension Bridge Main Cables: Used as parallel wire strands (PWS) for main cables of long-span suspension bridges.
Cable-Stayed Bridge Stay Cables: Applied as galvanized steel wires for stay cables in cable-stayed bridges.
Bridge Hanger Cables: Used for vertical and inclined hangers in arch bridges and suspension bridges.
Prefabricated Parallel Wire Strands: Formed into factory-assembled strands for efficient on-site cable erection.
Corrosion Protection Systems: Combined with epoxy coating, PE sheathing, or grease filling for aggressive environments.
Bridge Retrofit & Strengthening: Applied for cable replacement or additional cable systems in existing bridges.
